The Golden way (Goldweg) was created in 1990 and can already be called the classics.
The Via ferrata (the fixed rope route) goes with good prospects usually direct at the Urgesteingrat. Over a rock ridge overgrown with lichen it goes variously steep to the rise overgrown with yellow lichen. Then simply to a boulder. From the boulder, with a straddle, to the so-called Goldwandl. This unusual, almost a 15 m high rock face with yellow lichen vegetation presents a crux untypical to overcome. Then one plain chunk leads to the next evidently easier rise. After the further plain chunk comes a rise with not many helping ledges. Short down-climb and easily over the ridge to the peak.

Entrance to ascent:
Ascent with a Bergkastel cable car. From the mountain station over the hiking trail 33 to the mountain station Golden Lake cable lifts. Further on the marked route to the north-eastern slope of the Bergkastel’s peak. Ascent coordinates: N 46°51'03", O 10°33'23"

2580 m
Descent:
From the peak follow the marked route over the steep plateaus and down through boulders to the Golden Lake. After a short counter slope the route meets the trail 20. Over it through Ganderbild back to the ascending route. Go down after Nauders or descend with the Bergkastel cable car.

Zustieg zur Wand:
Bergfahrt mit der Bergkastelseilbahn. Von der Bergstation über Wanderweg 33 zur Bergstation des Goldseeschlepplifts. Weiter den markierten Steig hinein in die Nordostflanke der Bergkastelspitze. Einstiegskoordinaten: N 46°51'03", O 10°33'23"
Höhe Einstieg:
2580 m
Abstieg:
Vom Gipfel dem markierten Steig über steile Platten und durch Geröll hinunter zu den Goldseen folgen. Nach kurzer Gegensteigung trifft der Steig auf Weg 20. Über diesen durch das Ganderbild zurück zum Aufstiegsweg. Abstieg nach Nauders oder Talfahrt mit der Bergkastelseilbahn.
